The Protect Your Bubble team were out and about early this morning doing their annual survey of the queue for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

After plying queuers outside Apple’s flagship store on London’s Regent Street with breakfast bars and discount codes for gadget insurance, we found that the iPhone 6s was the standout model over the phablet-sized iPhone 6s Plus, with nearly half of the Apple fans waiting in line for the smaller model.

We also found out the favourite new feature, voted for by 47% of queuers, was 3D Touch technology. As for their top choice of colour, the new rose gold colour option was top of the list for more than half (51%), followed by space grey (20%), gold (18%) and silver (12%).

The queue was noticeably smaller than previous years, attracting just 297 people by the time doors opened at 8am (there were 2,000 last year!). Front of the queue was Moey Shawash, 31, an advertising manager from T3 Magazine, who had flown over from Cape Town, South Africa and reserved his place in the queue online two weeks ago. Moey is no stranger to the Apple queue, this time last year he was in New York doing the exact same thing for the same company.
