Q How much does the Insurance cost?
  • £149.99 for our standard cover not including alloy wheels
  • £179.99 to include cover for alloy wheels.
Q What am I covered for?
  • Minor chips up to 1.5cm in diameter and 3mm in depth
  • Dents, scratches and bumper scuffs up to 15cm in diameter and 3mm in depth where the damage does not extend to more than one body panel
  • You’re covered for up to 3 claims per year on minor damage to the car (not including the alloy wheels)
  • If you’ve added cover for alloy wheels you can make an additional 4 claims per year for these.
Q Do excess charges apply if I claim?

Yes

  • There’s an excess charge of £50 if you claim within the first three months of your policy start date
  • If you claim after the first three months from your policy start date, the excess charge is £25
  • If you make any claim for alloy wheels the excess is £25 at any time.
Q Can I pay monthly?

No. But you can choose to pay your one-off annual premium by debit card, credit card or PayPal.

Q Are vans and motorbikes covered under this policy?

No. This policy only covers cars used for social, domestic, pleasure and commuting to and from a place of work.

Q What are the eligibility criteria for this policy?
  • You must be the registered owner and keeper of the car
  • You must be resident in mainland UK or Northern Ireland (for instance cover for the Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Isle of Wight is not available)
  • Your car must be less than 5 years old (from the date of first registration)
  • You car must have less than 60,000 miles on the clock when you purchase Cosmetic Car Insurance
  • The car is not named on a contract hire or lease agreement
  • If your car has a specialist, non-standard or exclusive paint colour or finish - for example self-healing paint, body wraps, chrome illusion paint, two tone paint, or matt finishes – we can’t cover it, as we can’t match it. So, if you’re unsure please check with your dealer, manual or manufacturer before taking out Cosmetic Car Insurance
  • Your car must be used only for social, domestic, pleasure and commuting to and from a place of work 
  • The alloy wheels must be those that were present on the car when purchased and be of the manufacturer’s original specification.
Q Why are flat body panels like the roof, bonnet and boot not covered?

We believe repairs to minor damage on flat body panels like these need a full panel repair and re-spray carried out in a body shop.

Q Is the petrol cap regarded as one body panel?

Yes – this would be regarded as one body panel.

Q Do you cover damage to windscreens?

No – these are not covered by our policy.

Q Do you cover damage to wing mirrors?

Yes – these are covered by our policy.

Q Do you cover damage to wind screen wipers?

No – these are not covered by our policy.

Q Do you cover damage to tyres?

No – these are not covered by our policy.

Q Do I need to be the registered owner of the car to be eligible for this cover?

Yes.

Q I live outside the UK – am I eligible for this cover?

No.  You must be resident in mainland UK or Northern Ireland.

Q Where in UK can I be resident and use my car?
  • You must be resident in the Mainland UK or Northern Ireland
  • The policy does not cover your car for any damage that occurs outside of the UK Mainland or Northern Ireland.
Q Is there a maximum age limit for my car?

Yes – your car’s date of first registration must be within the last 5 years to be eligible for cover under this policy.

Q How do I get the correct date of the first registration of my car?

Check section 4 of your car’s V5C(NI) document (commonly known as the logbook).

Q Is there a maximum mileage limit for my car?

Yes. Your car must have less than 60,000 miles on the clock when you purchase Cosmetic Car Insurance.

Q I use my car for commercial purposes – am I eligible for this policy?

No.  Your car can only be used for social, domestic, pleasure and commuting to and from a place of work.

Q My alloy wheels were fitted after I purchased the car – can I cover them?

No. The alloy wheels must be the ones present on the car when you purchased it and be of the manufacturer’s original specification.

Q How long do repairs take?

This depends on the type of damage. It can be as quick as 30 minutes, or we may need up to 4 hours for more extensive damage.

Q Are your repairers qualified?

Yes – all our repairer technicians are fully ATA (Automotive Technician Association) qualified. They have gone through a rigorous assessment process covering not just the quality of their work but also their ethical conduct. That’s one of the reasons all our repairs are guaranteed for 3 years.

Q Do I need to take my car to a garage?

No.  The repair will be carried out at a place and time to suit you.
