Yes. There is an excess fee for all successful claims which must be paid before your claim can be approved. If you purchased your policy after 03/05/2011 and your policy is for a laptop, there is a £75 excess fee for each claim. If your claim is for a Smartphone, iPad, Tablet or iPhone the excess fee is £50 for any claim. For all other items, there is an excess fee of £25.
Any loss claims will incur a further £25 excess fee. Any international claims are subject to a £75 excess fee.

In the event of a claim you will need to provide receipts for all items you are claiming for. The receipt must be in the same family name.

In the event of a claim you must:
Failure to comply with the above may result in your claim being delayed or rejected.
Once the claim has been approved we aim to replace items within 2 working days. If the item is being repaired we aim to return this to you within 5 working days.
If you pay for your annual gadget insurance policy in monthly instalments we will collect the remaining annual premium at the same time as the excess is collected.

1. Contact
Please notify the Protect your bubble Customer Care team on 0844 3463 970 as soon as possible after any incident likely to give rise to a claim under your insurance policy. Please note that your policy has a 14 day exclusion period so if the incident occured within the first 14 days after your policy started your claim will not be accepted.
2. Reporting the theft or loss (if you have taken additional loss cover)
For Mobiles or PDAs - Report the theft or loss within 12 hours of discovery to your Airtime Provider and blacklist your handset. Report the theft or loss to the Police within 24 hours of discovery and obtain a crime reference number in support of a theft and a lost property number in support of a loss claim.
For all Electronic Equipment (including Mobiles and PDA’s) - Report the theft or loss to the Police within 24 hours of discovery and obtain a crime reference number in support of a theft and a lost property number in support of a loss claim.
3. Important Claims Information:
- At the point of claim if the value of the item you declared at the time of purchase differs from the true value of your gadget, Protect your bubble will collect any outstanding premium prior to settling your claim.
- If we replace your electronic equipment, the damaged or lost item becomes ours. If it is returned or found please ensure you notify us and send it to us if we ask you to.
- If you pay monthly and make a claim you will be asked to pay the premium for the minimum term (12 months) in advance before we can authorise any claim.
- Before your claim can be approved, the stated excess fee must be paid. For a laptop the excess is £75. For iPhone, smartphone or iPad, the excess is £50. For all other items the excess is £25. Loss claims incur an additional £25 charge. The excess on all international claims is £75.
Cancellations must be in writing. We do require one month notice. You can e-mail customerservices@protectyourbubble.com quoting your policy reference.
Please be aware that we charge an administration fee of £10. If you selected to pay annually a pro rata refund will be give – see Terms and Conditions for full details.

The Financial Ombudsman Service is an independent body that arbitrates on complaints about general insurance products. It will only consider complaints after you have been provided with written confirmation that the internal complaints procedure has been exhausted.
