What is a phablet?

Some of the newest gadgets hitting the market today combine the great features of a smartphone and tablet into one. By blending these two devices together, users get the advantages of a larger screen than your typical smartphone but without the bulk of a typical tablet. Currently, Samsung is the only manufacturer producing "phablets", named so by combining the words phone (ph-) and tablet (-ablet). We expect to see more of these gadgets in future years.

Things Worth Knowing About the Samsung Galaxy Note:

Key features for the Galaxy Note:
  • 5.3 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen
  • Android OS, v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • 8 MP primary camera, 2 MP secondary camera
  • Dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion
  • Document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF)
  • S-Pen

Key features for the Galaxy Note II:

  • 5.5 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen
  • Android OS, v4.1.1 (Jelly Bean)
  • 8 MP primary camera, 1.9 MP secondary camera
  • Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A9
  • Document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF)
  • Dropbox (50 GB storage)
  • Improved S-Pen stylus

Why should I insure my Samsung Galaxy Note?

The Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Note II are two of the hottest gadgets on the market today, thanks to their wonderful capabilities and exceptional features. While this means a better user experience for you, it also means that damaging your phone or having it stolen can be more a costly experience. Here's why:

  • Your phablet is more of a target for thieves than other smartphones as it comes with a higher demand, making it easier to sell once stolen.
  • The larger screen on your phablet allows you see crystal clear images and to have more room to work with your S-Pen, but it is also more vulnerable to cracks, even with its Gorilla Glass.
  • If you do damage your new Galaxy Note in a drop, parts for repair are more expensive on newer gadgets and can typically only be purchased directly through the manufacturer, making repairs more expensive.
  • The Samsung Galaxy Note is an expensive gadget. Handset only (unconnected) for the cheaper 16 GB Galaxy Note II starts at an excess of £500, making it very expensive to replace.

When can I insure my Samsung Galaxy Note?

As soon as you've bought your brand new Samsung Galaxy Note, whether you're going with the Note I or the Note II, you can purchase your insurance instantly online giving you proof of insurance should you need to make a claim in the future (proof of insurance is necessary to make a claim). Please refer to the full terms and conditions of our gadget policy before purchase.
