How much cover do I need?
This depends on your requirements – whether you just wish to cover your mortgage outstanding balance or whether you wish to leave an extra lump sum for your dependants, in which case, level term Life insurance might be suitable for you. You should also consider any cover that you may already have – for example from your employer.
How long should my cover last for?
You can choose any duration that suits you – whether this matches your mortgage duration or the age that your children will become financially independent.
If I take out a policy in a few years time rather than now will it cost more?
Yes, age is a factor in producing a Life Insurance quote and the premiums quoted will go up the older you are. (The other common factors used to determine a quote are – Sex, health, family health history, length of cover, amount of cover and smoking status).
This is dependent upon individual circumstances.
How long does it take for my policy to be set up?
If you are accepted under the standard underwriting criteria your policy may be set up immediately. If we require further medical information from your GP it will take a little longer.
Is there a cooling off period?
There is a 30 day cooling off period, if you cancel your policy during this time you will receive a full refund of any premium paid.
Do I get any money back if I don't die before the end of my plan?
No, this insurance only pays out as a result of an insured event (death or critical illness) during the policy term.
