What is an insurance policy excess?
Certain sections of Protect your bubble Bicycle Insurance cover are subject to an excess applying to each claim.
The excess is the amount you have to pay if you make a claim on your insurance.
If you upgrade to ‘no excess’, when purchasing your bicycle insurance, the excess will not apply as this will be covered as part of the policy. By adding no excess your monthly premiums will slightly increase, but you won’t have to pay an excess in the event that you should have to make a claim.
What amount of excess do I pay if I have to make a claim?
The standard Protect your bubble Bicycle Insurance excess is 5% of your bicycle's value. For example, if your bike is worth £1,000 the excess will be £50. If you do not want to pay an excess just tick the ‘no excess’ upgrade option during the quote process and pay a small additional premium.
Any claim for third party property damage under the Public Liability section will incur an excess of £250. Any claim for third party injury under the Public Liability section will incur an excess of £500. If you pay for your annual bicycle insurance policy in monthly installments we will collect the remaining annual premium at the same time as the excess is collected.
