  • Expert tips to help understand credit reports and scores
  • Online help to correct any errors quickly and simply
  • Telephone support for any credit issues, questions or worries

Why it’s helpful:

One of the best ways to check if your personal data may have found its way into the wrong hands is by frequently looking at your credit report. If your personal data has been used to apply for credit by a fraudster, for example, this would show up in your report.  Registering for alerts on key changes can help you detect anything unusual quickly.

Seeing and understanding your credit report and score can also help you get access to credit. We make it easy for you to understand what aspects affect your credit score – and how you can change this to help you get the credit or loan that you may want.

How to use it:

  1. If you choose to add the Digital Secure service to your Gadget Insurance policy, you will receive a registration email to access an online portal where you can register for all the Digital Secure services.
  2. For added safety there is an extra sign-in process to access your Online Credit Report along with Web Detect. This means that when you visit for the first time, you will go through a registration process to set up additional sign-in details.
  3. Once this is completed, you’ll use these details to sign in each time you access this benefit. 

 Web Detect

What you get:

  • Proactive registration to help you protect and safeguard all of your data – and get peace of mind
  • Real-time alerts by text and email if your data has been compromised
  • Data searches that cover the whole globe, not just the UK
  • Unlimited, easy online access
  • Telephone support for any data issues

Why it’s helpful:

Web Detect continuously scans hard-to-find websites used by cyber criminals to sell stolen data that may then be used to apply for credit – leaving the victim with debt in their name. 

Web Detect checks the personal information you register (like your address and email address) against databases of potentially stolen data on these sites and alerts you if your information is at risk of being traded. If there is a match you will receive an alert via email so you can detect the threat early. Our ID Fraud helpline can then give you the support you need to secure your personal information to help avoid it being used by cyber criminals to open bank accounts or borrow money in your name.

 ID Fraud Helpline

What you get:

Being a victim of identity theft can be both extremely stressful and time-consuming.  We aim to give you peace of mind knowing you have access to the support you need to help put things right quickly.

If you are unfortunate enough to be a victim of fraud, a dedicated case worker will:

  • Offer help and advice when you need to contact the police
  • Help restore your credit history
  • Help to secure your personal data
  • Ensure further security is in place before anyone attempts to borrow any more money in your name
  • Provide you with letter templates for writing to anyone who needs to know about the theft of your identity

Why it’s helpful:

If personal data ends up in the hands of cyber criminals, it could be used to open bank accounts or borrow money - leaving you with debt in your name. Having access to our ID Helpline means that you can call on us for expert advice should you need it.

How to use it:

  1. If you choose to add the Digital Secure service to your Gadget Insurance policy, you will receive a registration email to access an online portal where you can register for all the Digital Secure services. 
  2. Once you have registered you will automatically be enrolled with our ID Fraud team.

 Keystroke encryption software

What you get:

Software for three of your Windows PCs or laptops that masks the keystrokes you make on your keyboard – meaning any spyware that cyber criminals may use can’t harvest any of your personal data or passwords as you type it into your PC or laptop.

Encrypt each keystroke on your keyboard and:

  • Prevent key-logging malware from collecting what you type into your internet browser
  • Prevent your personal data such as name and date being captured without your permission
  • Receive alerts to any suspect emails or links that might lead to key-logging

Why it’s helpful:

Cyber criminals are constantly trying to access data that you enter online. One way they do this is by recording the keys struck on your keyboard, giving them access to different information such as passwords or bank details. Encrypting your keystrokes can help you stay one step ahead and prevent potential data theft.

How to use it:

  1. If you choose to add the Digital Secure service to your Gadget Insurance policy, you will receive a registration email to access an online portal where you can register for all the Digital Secure services. 
  2. From your portal simply click on the Keystroke Encryption Software section where you can download the software.

 Card Support 365

What you get:

One place to register all your financial cards, so if they are lost or stolen you can ring one number to cancel all of them – saving you time and stress. We can even order replacements for you from most banks. Our service includes:

  • Cancellation services with all participating UK and EU banks and card providers
  • Confirmation of cancellation provided to you
  • Re-issues supplied by the individual banks and card providers, within their security procedures
  • Optional facility to register your household cards for up to 6 other people living at your address
  • Optional Cifas Protective Registration: this means, with your permission, we will also let other banks and lending organisations know your details may be at risk of identity fraud (like if you’ve recently had a credit card stolen or lost personal documents)

Card Support 365 allows you to cancel and order replacements for any lost or stolen cards in just one phone call – any time, day or night, 365 days a year. With your permission, we can also let other banks and lending organisations know that your details are at risk through Cifas Protective Registration.

  1. If you choose to add the Digital Secure service to your Gadget Insurance policy, you will receive a registration email to access an online portal where you can register for all the Digital Secure services. 
  2. Once you have registered you can call us and register your cards. 
  3. If any are then lost or stolen you can call our number 24/7, 365 days a year to cancel your cards in one quick and easy phone call.

 Legal assistance
