Bike insurance exclusions

Key exclusions & conditions

When you make a claim, you will be required to provide us with Evidence of Ownership of your bike. This is the original purchase receipt of the bicycle, showing the date, price paid, details of the bicycle and any other evidence that clearly demonstrates ownership.

Where required by the policy terms and conditions, you must secure your bike with an approved lock – which is a nominated lock from the appropriate ‘Sold Secure’ category, depending upon the value of your bike. See our web page or the policy terms and conditions for full details.

In the event of theft, you will be required to provide us with Evidence of Ownership of your approved lock as well as your bike. If a purchase receipt is not available we may accept the remains of the approved lock, provided we can identify those remains as being those of an approved lock.

If you are unable to provide Evidence of Ownership of your bike or your approved lock where required, your claim may not be settled.

In the event your bicycle is stolen or vandalised you must report it to the Police as soon as possible and obtain a crime reference number.
