Orange To Sponsor UEFA 2012

Mobile phone tariff provider Orange will be the official sponsor of the UEFA football tournament in 2012.

The tournament is being held in Poland and Ukraine. The sponsorship will provide the French company – who have one of the largest market shares in the UK – with access to promotional material and exclusive mobile coverage of the event in certain territories, such as Spain, Poland and the UK itself.

Orange Poland will be the exclusive provider of communications equipment for the event, and the company have confirmed other benefits for their customers. This includes an exclusive Orange UEFA 2012 mobile application, as well as tournament tickets being offered as prizes through the service.

The deal, the first of its kind for the company since its founding in 1994, is “a significant and exciting announcement for Orange”, according to senior executive vice president for operations Olaf Swantee. “It is the largest pan-European sponsorship project we have ever done and a testament to the strength of our brand and its growth across Europe,” he added.

Orange Vice president Severine Legrix De La Salle also commented, “We are determined to deliver a sponsorship package that brings the tournament to life for our customers. Our aim is to create an emotional connection between our brand and consumers by develop exciting and compelling products and services, based around one of the world’s greatest sporting events.”

The Arcueil-based company will release more specific details as to its plans soon. Other sponsorships that the company have run include Rockcorps, a British charitable service that provides working volunteers with free concert tickets.
