When will the Galaxy Fold be released?

The 4G version of the Samsung Galaxy Fold will go on sale in the UK on May 3rd. A 5G version with improved specs will follow later in the year.

 

 

How much will the Galaxy Fold cost?

The price hasn’t been officially announced, but we do know it’s going to be (understatement alert) rather expensive. Rumours suggest the 4G version could cost around £1,700 and the 5G version might even go beyond the £2,000 mark. *Mops brow*

What features does it have?

The Galaxy Fold has two super-hi-res displays; a 4.6-inch one on the front and an epic 7.3-inch tablet-style foldable screen on the inside.

Due to ‘app continuity’ tech, anything you’re looking at on the front will instantly resize to the bigger screen when you open it up. Super handy when you’re chasing pre-criminals through a packed cyber-city and I’ve got Minority Report confused with real life again. *Sigh*.

Performance should be similar to the Galaxy S10+, arguably the best phone on the market at the moment. The standard version of the Fold has a whopping 12GB of RAM / 512GB of memory, and word on the street is the 5G version will come with a gargantuan 1TB of memory. Next-level stuff.

They’ve included a two-part 4380mAh battery, which means it should be as long-lasting as other flagship phones, even when it’s being used in ‘tablet’ mode. You can also share your charge with your friends’ compatible devices wirelessly - or, you can keep every precious morsel to yourself while laughing in a sinister fashion. The choice is yours.

 

 

What does it look like?

We caught a glimpse of the device at Mobile World Congress 2019 last month, and it's a thing of beauty.



The handset comes in a range of colours including Space Silver, Martian Green, Astro Blue and Collapsed Star Mauve. Okay, maybe not that last one.

 

 

How hyped are we about it?

On a hype-scale of one to ten - one being not fussed, and ten being us spitting bars about it in an abandoned car park - we’re at a ten (Protect Your Bubble mixtape coming soon btw).

Foldable mobile tech is the next big thing and with Samsung’s incredible track record, we’re expecting a gamechanger.  Watch this space.
