A £50 excess applies to all iPad, iPad2, new iPad and tablet claims. All Accidental Damage claims made in the first 3 months from the policy start date incur an additional £25 excess charge.

A guide on how to take care of your iPad

If you've never owned an iPad before there may be lots of things you don't know about it. Read below to look at our top advice on how to look after your new gadget. 

Look after your batteries

To get the best out of your battery power make sure you download all the latest updates from Apple. Certain software adjustments will help preserve your battery life. It's also a good idea to make sure you charge your iPad to 100% at least once a month and then run it completely down. 

Use a screen protector

You can prevent cosmetic damage by using a cover. This will make sure that the special oleophobic coating on your screen (which means it's oil resistant) will last as long as possible.

Clean your iPad

The more you use your iPad the dirtier it will get. This means problems such as touch screen sensitivity will eventually fail to work properly. Turn your device off and disconnect any cables. Use a micro fibre cloth and a small amount of water to gently rub the surface. You should be able to eliminate fingerprints and smudges. Make sure you use a dry micro fibre cloth to wipe away any water residue on the device.

Keep it out of the heat

Ensure your iPad is not kept in the heat and avoid giving it exposure to direct sunlight. Very low temperatures below 32 degrees fahrenheit could also stop it working properly.

Use the port connections properly

Make sure you only connect the intended add-ons to your ports. If you tried to jam a connector into the iPad you could render it unusable.
