Rejoice! With UK legislation introduced in the last week, you can now switch to a new mobile network provider with a single text.

Because you can often save money by buying a handset outright and getting a contract separately, we've put together a list of the best sim-free smartphone deals available in July 2019*:

Google Pixel 3a (64GB – Black) £349 at store.google.com

In March, Google released the Pixel 3a and pitched it as as a cheaper, stripped-back version of the Pixel 3 - so we were pleasantly surprised to find that the 3a performs well and has most of the same features as it’s predecessor.

Seeing as it’s only been out for a few months, it came as a bit of a surprise when Google announced a price reduction this week (and we aren't ones to look a gift-horse in the mouth. No siree bub).

The Pixel 3a is a great option if you’re in the market for a mid-range mobile and you don’t wanna compromise on processing speed and camera quality. And why should you, dear reader? You deserve nice things.

Huawei P20 Pro (128GB – Black) £599 at ao.com

Huawei knocked it out of the park with the P20 Pro, and as a result, a year and a half after release, it’s still one of the best mobiles money can buy.

Possibly due to the recent trade-related controversy (which mercifully seems to have settled down in the last week or so), we’ve seen some big price-drops on Huawei handsets.

If you’re looking for a phone that can go shoulder to shoulder with the latest Samsung and Apple flagships, the P20 pro might be the one for you.

Honor 10 (128GB – Phantom Grey) £249.99 at very.co.uk

Speaking of Huawei, their offshoot brand Honor has gained a reputation for impressive mid-range phones over the last few years.

The 10 is arguably the Honor handset that’ll give you the most bang for your buck, and with further discounts, it just keeps getting more enticing.

If you’re looking for an affordable smartphone that looks and performs like a top-of-the-range flagship (with only a few minor compromises) this plucky underdog could be right up your street.

Apple iPhone 8 (64GB – Gold) £588 at ao.com

While the iPhone XR is probably the most sought-after Apple phone in recent years (mainly thanks to its impressive battery-life and flagship features), its predecessor, the iPhone 8, still holds its own.

If you’re in the market for an Apple handset, but you're a fan of smaller screens and you don’t wanna break the bank, the iPhone 8 could be just the ticket.

Samsung Galaxy S10 (512GB – Black) £789 at johnlewis.com

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is one of the best phones money can buy. However, the eye-watering £999 price-tag at launch meant it was out of reach for most of us.

Fortunately, in the last couple of weeks, we’ve seen significant discounts, and while it’s still firmly in arm-and-leg territory, a £210 saving could make it a more viable option for some. Which is nice.
